The purpose of the project is to raise awareness of the connection between land use and transportation and assist local municipalities in identifying physical locations, and potential changes in land use regulations, that optimize the use of existing non-automotive transportation infrastructure through well-designed development.

This project set out to achieve greater awareness on the part of citizens and elected officials of the connection between land use decisions and the success of different transportation modes.  In addition, local municipalities can benefit from potential changes to their land-use regulations and the identification of targeted sites for development that maximizes the use of existing transit and pedestrian infrastructure.
