Kiernan Playford Planner
Kiernan previously worked in affordable housing development, nonprofit grant writing, and small business development. Kiernan has always shown interest in urban spaces, maps, and the built environment. She is quick to understand her surroundings spatially: her claim to fame is her ability to be a “human” GPS in urban areas (she is also very good at parallel parking).
Born and raised in the Rochester area, Kiernan left briefly for college. She returned shortly after to attend Rochester Institute of Technology, where she wrote her senior thesis on Smart Growth and Transportation Policy. Since then, she has been determined to take part in the revitalization and historic preservation of the Rochester area. She is particularly excited about the craft brewery boom occurring in the region, as a tool for localized economic development. With her wide range of experience, Kiernan provides planning support to programs and projects spanning sectors at G/FLRPC.
