Parks & Trails ENews, Canalway Trail Times, You Gotta Have Friends – electronic newsletters from Parks & Trails New York covering park and trail, Canalway Trail and state park news from around the state. Go to  http://www.ptny.org/publications/newsletters to subscribe.
 
 
Centerlines - a bi-weekly electronic, text-only news bulletin of the National Center for Bicycling & Walking (http://www.bikewalk.org/) that includes a variety of news and information to help create more walkable and bicycle-friendly communities.  http://www.bikewalk.org/newsletter.php  
 
Bicycle and Pedestrian Information Center (PBIC) whose mission is to improve the quality of life in communities through the increase of safe walking and bicycling as a viable means of transportation and physical activity. http://www.pedbikeinfo.org/. The Center’s website is a treasure trove of information on walking and bicycling.

Alliance for Walking and Biking is a coalition of more than 200 groups dedicated to providing advocates with the tools to win campaigns that transform communities into great places to bike and walk. Their Benchmarking Report is an important resource in understanding how New York’s efforts compare with those across the country (http://www.bikewalkalliance.org/). Safe Routes to School National Partnership –advances policy change and catalyzes support for healthy, active communities, starting with walking and bicycling to school (http://saferoutespartnership.org/.) Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Healthy Community Design Initiative - Many resources to help design and plan communities to make it easier to make healthy choices for where to work, live, and play (http://www.cdc.gov/healthyplaces/).

Citizens Institute on Rural Design works with communities with populations of 50,000 or less, and offers annual competitive funding to as many as six small towns or rural communities to host a two-and-a-half day community design workshop (http://www.rural-design.org/). They also host webinars. See archived webinar “Rural Trails as Economic Engines, Cultural Assets, and Community Anchors,” for example.  
 
Community Design Center of Rochester provides technical assistance and educational and training opportunities and works in partnership with communities to guide creation of vision plans and encourage community involvement in planning and development activities (http://www.cdcrochester.org/).  
DASH-NY (Designing a Strong and Healthy NY) –New York’s Chronic Disease Prevention Coalition and Policy Center. Holds webinars and advocates for healthy physical activity initiatives in New York State (http://www.dashny.org/).  
 
New Yorkers for Active Transportation (NY4AT) – A coalition of individuals, nonprofits and local governments coordinated by New York Bicycling Coalition (NYBC), Parks & Trails New York (PTNY), and Tri-State Transportation Campaign (TSTC) dedicated to equitable funding for non‐motorized transportation, including complete streets, community multi‐use trails, and safer and increased levels of bicycling and walking in New York’s cities, villages, and towns (http://ptny.org/ny4at).
