Summary: A Regional Council is a public organization created to foster coordination among neighboring counties and to provide a regional approach to those concerns crossing local boundaries. It serves a grouping of counties whose residents are joined as a unit economically, socially and geographically. The local governments representing these counties have joined together voluntarily to address common economic and social concerns through the efforts of Regional Councils.
The mission of Genesee/Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council (G/FLRPC) is to identify, define, and inform its member counties of issues and opportunities critical to the physical, economic, and social health of the region. G/FLRPC provides forums for discussion, debate, and consensus building, and develops and implements a focused action plan with clearly defined outcomes, which include programs, personnel, and funding.
The webinar will give an overview of regional planning councils, G/FLRPC, and its program areas, services, and efforts in support of the Genesee-Finger Lakes Region. Program areas at Genesee/Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council include Economic Development (including the District Office for the federal Economic Development District); Regional, Local and Water Resources Planning; Data, Technology & Resource Center; and additional services including the Local Government Workshop.
