Clean Fleets Adoption
This page details the steps your community needs to take to get Clean Energy Communities certification for this High Impact Action (HIA) by NYSERDA and how Genesee/Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council (G/FLRPC) can assist you. Please email your Regional Coordinator, Rob Richardson, at rrichardson@gflrpc.org so he can help you get started. If you have already been in touch with another member of G/FLRPC team regarding this specific HIA, email them directly for help completing this action item.  
  

Step 1: Choose one, two, or all three options to earn Clean Fleets Credit

  • Each counts as a completed HIA & Earns Points
  • Credit only given for one of each

 Option 1: EV Charging Stations
Install and provide either two (2) or more Level 2 charging ports or one (1) or more DC fast charge ports. Equipment must be active at the time of submittal. The municipality must own or lease the equipment. Charging Stations may be used for government operations or public use.

Option 2: Light/Medium Duty Electric Vehicles
Deploy at least one plug-in hybrid or battery-electric vehicle. Vehicles must be manufactured for use primarily on public streets, roads, and highways and have a maximum speed capability of at least fifty-five miles per hour. The vehicle(s) must be active at the time of submittal.

Option 3: Heavy Duty Electric Vehicles
Deploy at least one Class 7 or 8 plug-in hybrid or battery electric vehicle. Vehicles must be manufactured for use primarily on public streets, roads, and highways and have a maximum speed capability of at least fifty-five miles per hour. School busses and vehicles used primarily for fixed-route public transit such as a transit bus or "body-on-chassis" minibus are also eligible. Vehicle(s) must be active at the time of submittal.

Step 2: Complete your chosen option(s)
Install charging stations, deploy vehicles, or do both. Once you have decided on your chosen source Fill out the Clean Fleets Certification Form

G/FLRPC will help you:

  • Connect with various funding streams to either cover or offset the cost of these items
  • Provide information on various technologies and help communities make the right decision

 

Step 3:  Submitting Documentation  
The final step is to submit the following documents to NYSERDA for certification of this Action Item:  

Option 1: EV Station

Submit a completed Clean Fleets Certification Form or comparable information to demonstrate municipal provision of either two (2) or more Level 2 charging ports or one (1) or more DC fast charge ports. Equipment must be active at the time of submittal. The municipality must own or lease the equipment. Charging Stations may be used for government operations or public use. Date of completion is when the equipment became operational.

Option 2: Light/Medium Duty Electric Vehicles

Submit a completed Clean Fleets Certification Form or comparable information to demonstrate municipal deployment of at least one plug-in hybrid or battery-electric vehicle. Vehicles must be manufactured for use primarily on public streets, roads, and highways and have a maximum speed capability of at least fifty-five miles per hour. The vehicle(s) must be active at the time of submittal. Class 7 or 8 vehicles should be submitted under Clean Fleets – Heavy Duty Electric Vehicles. Date of completion is when the equipment became operational.
